Review from Christine S (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 December 2019

Average Rating: Average rating 4.8 out of 5

From the moment we moved our mother from a Residential home to Sunrise we have been warmly received and the care has been excellent. The management, nurses, carers, caterers and even the maintenance man have all been so friendly and receptive to any needs.

Mother has been treated with dignity and care beyond what we have experienced before. Each time we visit the staff are ready to stop what they are doing and discuss mum’s latest health, food intake and hydration. Their kindness is so very much appreciated. A cup of tea and a biscuit is always offered to make us feel at home too.

The decor of the room and furniture are all of an excellent standard. The adjustable electric beds with side retainers and medical-style mattresses add to her wellbeing. A spotless en-suite complements the room.

We found that because they have more than one lounge, we were able to have some quiet and private times with mother and also to talk to the staff when necessary. Nothing seemed too much for them.

Staff at the home ‘care’. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile and reassurance. I would not be happy if I had to find another home for my husband as we looked long and hard before deciding on Sunrise. As their advertisement says, they care like family.

My sister has been living at this nursing home for the past 10 years. She is severely brain-damaged and cannot do anything for herself. Apart from one instance 2 and a half years ago, the family have been very happy with the way she has been looked after. We have found the standard of care very good. We have always been notified of any issues and have always been able to talk to staff about any concerns.

Sunrise is more than a nursing home, it’s my home. In my home, I am looked after by a friendly, competent staff, many of whom have become personal friends. In my home, I am fed with tasty meals, home-cooked daily. In my home, all the staff go the extra mile with activities and personal events like birthday parties. In my home, the staff, relatives and residents are all part of the same team looking out for each other.

Our family have been associated with Sunrise Homes (formerly Highliffe House) since 2012 where 4 members of our closest and dearest family have been superbly cared for with the utmost dignity. My father who has resided here since 2014 continues to receive this same dedicated care and the change of ownership is in name only as the same staff continue to support me, and more importantly my father as he reaches his end of life.

My mother has been a resident for the last nine months. The care and support she is offered is excellent. She is happy and well cared for. Staff are very friendly and always helpful. Managers have kept me up to date regularly with mum’s ‘progress’. Her room, including en-suite, is pleasant, light, airy and always clean and tidy. Meals are freshly prepared and always tasty.
I am very happy with the way she is cared for and have no concerns about leaving her after a visit.

Exceptional caring standards this nursing home has. My mother is currently a resident, the care and quality that has been given towards my mother has been nothing less than brilliant. The compassion and dedication that the nurses and carers and mangers have shown towards my mother has been such a reassurance towards us as a family. My mother is very comfortable and very happy here. Sunrise Care Home represents everything that you would hope to expect from dedicated nursing. Thank you so much to all the staff for giving our mother the dignity and quality of care that she deserves.
